This week, Florida Democrats worked with President Obama to pass historic health insurance reform. But the response from leading Republicans in Florida is to work as hard as they can to repeal it.
The perfect example is Attorney General Bill McCollum, who has yet to offer any comprehensive plans to address the most serious issues Floridians face or even offer his vision on creating jobs in Florida - but he has taken the time to use taxpayer dollars to pursue a politically-motivated lawsuit to stop health insurance reform.
He has even gone as far as to give a no-bid contract to one of his former Washington D.C. lobbying partners to help him with his political grandstanding. But, he may not have even taken the time to follow the law by consulting with Florida's members of Congress before filing the lawsuit - as Florida law requires.
McCollum is desperate to appeal to his political base to get media exposure for his campaign - he is putting his own ambition over what is right for Florida voters. We have to stop these political games and attacks on insurance reform now.

Bill McCollum isn't alone. Governor Charlie Crist and former Speaker Marco Rubio are also some of the loudest members of the repeal caucus of the Republican Party as they fight to appeal to extreme right-wing voters in their Senate primary.
While we know that McCollum, Crist, and Rubio are fighting to:
- Take away health coverage to 32 million Americans
- Re-open the Medicare Part D 'donut hole' for 565,000 Floridians
- Raise taxes on 216,000 small businesses in Florida.
- Allow millions of Florida children to be denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions
We need the resources to ensure all Floridians learn of their schemes to block or repeal President Obama's historic health insurance reforms.
We have a chance to defeat these politicians all in one of the most critical elections we have faced in Florida in our lifetime. With every statewide office open - including the Governor's Office and a U.S. Senate seat - we have a chance to stop these tactics now.

Six days ago, Kendrick Meek proudly cast his vote for the historic health insurance reform. Meanwhile, Marco Rubio and Charlie Crist were attacking each other to appeal to the "Tea Party" activists and extreme rightwing Republicans, rather than focusing of bring jobs to Florida.
We need to support these strong Democratic leaders - not the political games standing in the way of the change we voted for in 2008.
